An interactive PowerPoint to use in the run-up to Christmas. It contains 80 Christmas-themed questions suitable for KS1.
Use as a starter, an assembly, a filler or a main activity. All questions are multiple choice and fit into 8 different categories: The First Christmas, Dates and Times, Christmas Food, Winter, Entertainment, Christmas Songs, Customs and Traditions and Santa is Coming . This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 7 - 11. The pdf plans are very detailed (11 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year.
Lesson 1 teaches children about the story of Queen Esther and includes a drama hot seating activity.
Lesson 2 teaches children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim and includes a letter writing activity.
Lesson 3 consolidates the previous lessons and includes two art activities based on Purim celebrations.
Each lesson starts with an introductory session and finishes with a plenary session. There are also lots of opportunities for whole class discussions. The plan includes three differentiated levels of objectives and all the necessary resources. There is also an optional PowerPoint (This is non-editable. This resource is a plan for 3 lessons on Jesus’s parables to be taught to KS2.
The first lesson covers why Jesus used stories/parables to teach lessons. The parables that are covered in the following 2 weeks are ‘The parable of the lost son’ and ‘The parable of the mustard seed.’ The second 2 lessons can be taught in any order and encourage the children to consider how difficult it is to forgive and how Jesus hoped to spread the word of God. The lessons are taught through a variety of mediums, such as watching clips, taking part in storytelling, drama activities, planting a seed and artwork. The plans contain Bible references and internet links to make it easy to find the stories, details of how to teach the stories and activities that the children could do. There are also detailed Learning Objectives with differentiated outcomes. It is an easy plan to follow as very few resources are needed, but are listed where required.
